I am not sure who uses G Suite, but it seems that Google is responding to things like MS Teams and Slack in its proposed changes to G Suite (and possibly GMail in the future). They are incorporating their communications and work tools into a somewhat more consolidated workspace so there is less tab switching and supposedly better integration.
