Hello everyone!
I’ve downloaded a trial version of TheBrain and as I already saw that some users there had some experience with it, I was wondering if someone could help me understand if it is worth buying the pro version. I need to visualize fields of knowledge: philosophy, psychology, anthropology, etc. and, within those fields: authors, books, concepts, and so on. I’ve been using Tinderbox for gathering notes and it’s a wonderful tool when it comes to take notes. But I had to have an overview of my knowledge and I wonder if TheBrain would be a good choice. How about that? Thanks for your answers.

Hello Tullio
I think TheBrain is well-suited for what you want to do. I would make a
hierarchy like:
Fields of study -> Authors -> Books -> Concepts
But then also have the most important books and concepts as direct descendants
of each field of study, so you can easily get a quick overview. You can also
link realted authors and conecpts together with jump links to make it easier to
find relevant information. That being said, there are many ways to organize
information in TheBrain.
One of the things that TheBrain is not very good at IMO is structuring “linear”
information like notes. It’s great for getting an overview of a complex topic,
but not so much for managing all the details.
You can work around this by taking your notes in text files (or some other
format, like Microsoft Word), and then attaching them to relevant Thoughts in
TheBrain. Luckily, TheBrain handles file attachments very well, but they are a
Pro-only feature. In fact, this feature is the main reason why I paid for the
Pro version.

The free version of TheBrain gives you 30 days access to Pro services. That should be more than enough time to evaluate with your own data and work stream. Pro is rather expensive—I wouldn’t rely on someone else’s opinion, since none of us really know what you work is like.
