Pierre I use MXLinux but if you can get it running on any Debian or Ubuntu system I bet I can make it work on MX

Sure, can you tell me which distribution you're using ?
I'll set it up in a Virtualbox and try to get it to work

Hi Outliners,
IQ and IQO v115c are now online.
Notable changes are:
- New: A Start page is now shown on program startup, providing general information on InfoQube with hyperlinks to create a new file, open an existing file, etc
(should help newcomers)
- New: CardView: Multiple improvements, now making it a semi-useful UI

Hi everyone,
Long-time lurker here (since 2009), first-time poster. I registered to say thank you to this wonderful community for pointing me in the direction of great software and providing help in how to use it.
I started using InfoQube as a result of jimspoon's post "A few thoughts about Infoqube" last October https://www.outlinersoftware.com/topics/viewt/8796/0/a-few-thoughts-about-infoqube I found it quite complex to use.
I gave it another go with the release of InfoQube Outliner and the new welcome page and simpler interface was a great help in getting started.
I have written a tutorial on how to use InfoQube for outlining on their forum: "InfoQube for Beginners: Writing an Outline" https://infoqubeim.com/drupal5/?q=node/4940 I hope it will be useful to someone in this community as well.
All the best,
Cyganet

Looks nice, good job. Most professionals who are buyers of sophisticated productivity tools, like coders writers it-staff managers editors etc, can't afford to stare into a virtual big filming Light-box (white screens) at close up for 8 to 10 hours a day anymore. That's why most of them nowadays mainly work with dark theme apps. Any app that offers dark mode easily doubles+ their client base and then grows faster by word of mouth online.

@washere: I find this interesting. Is it really true that most people in the groups you refer to prefer dark mode? I certainly don't, even if I spend 12 hours at the screen. I find it quite irritating that many apps are now starting by default in dark mode. I assumed it was just a fad. But it certainly makes sense to offer choices.

Hi washere,
I agree that dark themes are in vogue right now and preferred by "some" but would not be ready to bet that it is the case for "most" (as in > 50%)
Or that it is better than a light theme... :
https://www.nngroup.com/articles/dark-mode/
After all, nearly all printed matter is black on white...
That said, IQ/IQO support for dark mode is progressing (in Options.ini, set theme to Dark), though much more work is required to complete the transition. For the Doc pane, the "Night" style sheet is a good start which users can adapt.
But thanks for reminding me that I should work, from time to time, on improving the dark mode support of IQ/IQO

That's good to know You're on it. Well I didn't talk about various aspects of light vs dark, most people, etc etc. I mentioned pro people working long hours daily with large screens with productivity tools. Quite specific.
Windows theme hacking forums, forcing MS to go dark, cgi & effects studios setups, IDEs etc can tell stories from well over two decades.
Benefits to white? I've read even more. I can write some benefits to white no one has ever written about. Which Apple knows (worked with them too) and keeps secret. That's not the point. But overwhelming majority of writers and almost all coders I've met are dark. Quite specific, not general public who really don't get into sophisticated productivity tools as I said.
It's not a trend, been increasing for thirty years steadily. Because no one in their right mind WORKS a few inches from one or more big light boxes staring into it focusing on text details (not general public surfing) for 8 to 10 hours, day after day, month in month out, year after year, decade after decade. One day they look over someone's shoulder and say damn.
I know it's hard for IQ. We both know if you were starting from scratch today it would be a doddle though. But ultimately unavoidable, not so ten or twenty years ago. That's the point, you'll have to get back to it. Build it, and they will come. That's my opinion to all devs on this forum who are resisting the dark side. Got to dash. Good luck Pierre.

p.s. If Linux / macOS users want to work with us, it would be great if we could get IQO running on Wine / Crossover
