I’m pleased to announce the release of Clibu Notes 0.42.00. Clibu Notes will eventually be the successor to Clibu https://clibu.com and is based on what we’ve learnt from it and it’s predecessor Surfulater.
Two informative Blog posts are on line:
https://blog.clibu.com/2020/02/18/clibu-notes-simpler-note-taking/
https://blog.clibu.com/2020/02/19/clibu-notes-simpler-faster-note-taking-part-2/
which include details on accessing this release.
Some more information from the Clibu Notes “About” page:
Clibu Notes aims to simplify Note taking and content capture, so information that’s important to you is readily accessible wherever you are.
Clibu Notes can work with or without an Internet connection, with all content stored privately and locally on your devices. Accessing content locally removes Internet bottlenecks, making Clibu Notes fast.
Clibu Notes synchronizes all content across all devices in real time when you are online. Changes you make while offline synchronize when you next go online. Content can be shared with friends and collaborated on with colleagues.
Clibu Notes is a complete rewrite of Clibu using your feedback and everything we’ve learnt along the way. It also pulls in features from our earlier Windows program, Surfulater.
Clibu Notes lets you organize notes using a hierarchical tree. This tree of notes can be viewed alphabetically by note title, by an order you create using drag and drop and by the dates notes are created or modified.
Notes can be archived or moved to trash and of course restored again.
Notes can be color coded and further identified using a broad selection of icons.
Tree filters trim down the tree to only include specific notes. For example all notes colored red, created in the last month, the title of which includes Italy.
And for more advanced use, tree hoisting lets you view and work with a single tree branch.
Selected notes can be displayed in a list or a grid. This includes the note itself plus all of its descendants. Selecting a note in the list or grid opens it for editing.
Note breadcrumbs show the full path to each note, with a click or tap selecting that note’s branch.
Global Notes views are available by clicking the Home icon or bypassing the tree and seeing the most recently Updated, Created or Viewed notes using the Tabs above the Notes list/grid.
Clibu Notes follows the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
The Clibu Notes Roadmap includes: Full offline support, full text search, Hierarchical Tags, linking Notes to each other, Workspaces, much greater Editor functionality including Markdown support and collaborative editing, Note Outlines, Web Clipper, Attachments, full Smartphone & Tablet support including PWA, Import/Export, User login and access control, more use of Drag and Drop, Keyboard shortcuts, performance tuning etc.

I look forward to your comments and suggestions which will be very valuable in helping us guide Clibu Notes future development.

Good for you, Neville! It’s really impressive to see such dedication to an information-gathering concept like Clibu - a genuine attempt to make a sophisticated, difficult-to-manage activity as user-friendly as possible.
Bravo!

Thanks for the kind words Bill. It has been a long, interesting and challenging journey since starting Surfulater all those years ago. One which will hopefully continue for quite some time yet.
Doing something you enjoy, get great satisfaction from and are in engrossed in, all help. ߘ

Where is the local data store for Clibu Notes? Can notes be exported / imported?
Can it be run completely local and never access the internet?

From Neville’s description:

I don’t know about import/export. You’d think so, or else the app wouldn’t be much use.
