Readiris (scanner program) for free

Regular version (PDF 17) apparently free till 2/14 - see: https://www.irislink.com/EN-IL/c1729/Readiris-17—the-PDF-and-OCR-solution-for-Windows-.aspx#table-buy.

That said, at least for very basic scanning needs I don’t see terribly much difference (aside from the fancier interface) between this and other permanently free solutions, such as the free version of Orpalis Paperscan and - what is better in my opinion - NAPS 2 (https://www.naps2.com/).
