Thanks for pointing us to Cling.
Regarding the topic of over-eager follow-up emails, perhaps I am in the minority, but I have zero tolerance for unsolicited, generic follow-up emails for software, no matter how well written and intentioned. But rather than be bothered about it, I simply do all software sign-ups with an alternative email address that I almost never check. (Granted, occasionally I encounter a still-unreleased software project that sounds so exciting that I sign up for news with my main email address.)

The fact is that some of the most valuable feedback from developers comes from users who are pissed and want to move away. You have to try and catch them as soon as possible. For Desktop programs i added some uninstall feedback popup in the past. I know this is not the nicest behaviour but it helped me.
On the other hand (i know Cling is from a german company) US customers should be used to it. Isn’t it the same experience as in every restaurant in the states where you can’t relax and eat because the waitress approaches you every 5min and interrupts you?
