My macair died and so I purchased a high spec iPad Pro as opposed to a low spec mac laptop as prices are going crazy.

I use the paperlike screen cover and had no trouble putting it on my iPad. It is superb and makes writing on the iPad as good as paper. The screen clarity is affected, but I can live with that to do away with pen and paper.

I'm now nearly completely paperless. Everything gets scanned in and either archived in Devonthink or copied to icloud for use with Goodnotes. When I finish with something in Goodnotes it goes into Devonthink via Devonthink to Go.

I used to carry a bullet journal with me everywhere, but this has been completely replaced and I have not missed it once.

I have been surprised just how quickly I have moved much of my workflow to the iPad Pro. I'd say withing 2 weeks I was running at 50% working on the iPad. I'm now no longer considering any software that does not do iOS. When I walk out my door and grab my iPad Pro, I like the feeling that I have everything with me.

I'm in the midst of an app crisis at the moment. I've got too many in use, which leads to fragmentation of information. At the same time, I can't nail down which ones I really want to commit to - apart from OmniFocus, which I've used since it was just scripts for OmniOutliner.

So my list is:

1. Brainstorming: iThoughtsX, Curio
2. Random Notetaking: Drafts, TheBrain, Goodnotes (iOS), DEVONthink Sorter/Notebooks, TheBrain (Mac)
3. Scheduling: Fantastical (iOS), BusyCal (Mac)

I have challenges around 2, 7 & 9.

I'll admit that some days I check the iOS App Store and the Mac App Store hoping that a major new release of something has magically appeared. There's always a tinge of sadness when the release notes say "the usual bug fixing" or so. I would have no way of explaining to my Welsh mining ancestors 200 years ago why "playing with new software" can be endlessly entertaining. They would have me in chains in an instant!

Ah, I hear you, pal! That magic moment when you discover something completely unexpected on one of the App Stores, either in the form of a major update or a brand-new app you've never heard of before!

I have another confession: I sometimes trawl alternativeto.net looking for interesting goodies... sad or wot?!?
