Standard Note, a truly encrypted, multiclient (even web) text editing and notes managing app, has a deal here: $14.90 per year, billed once every five years.
https://dashboard.standardnotes.org/
I don't use it, but could, and it's maybe the only one I've seen I would trust on the web.

$75 (effective purchase price for 5 years) still seems high for an under-the-radar open source app that's basically encrypted Markdown scratch notes (no attachments despite hosting the data on your own cloud) with a separate checklist mode (a la Google Keep).
That Standard Notes make you pay up-front for a 5 year 'subscription' gives me some trepidation - a lower yearly subscription not only would make the app more popular, it would give the developer more reason to continually update the app (to maintain the userbase). This is more of a one-time cash grab that lets the dev slack off (or f*** off) in a year if he wanted, destined to have a small user base and limited app growth. And if sales remain small or stagnate then there's less urgency in fixing broken browser extensions, etc
Even with the best of intentions that pricing decision seems more pilot project proof of concept than a viable business model.

Sounds like a terrible promotion, unless you're already a big-time user of Standard Note. I'd gladly blow $15 on an annual subscription for software that seems promising, but a five-year deal sounds like the developer needs cash, and needs it now. Once he gets it, and the months and years go by without further income from his new subscriber base, will he have the motivation to update and enhance the software?

I'll correct what I said about there being no attachments - it seems I was wrong about that, as they say "Encrypted attachments for your notes stored directly in your Dropbox or Google Drive."
I see that D'Alessio's Keep Productive YouTube channel recently did 2 videos on the app. I'll take a look now.

Personally, I am pretty happy with Apple Notes for cross-platform notes (plus pics, plus attachments) that are secure enough for me. And then I have writing apps. And then I have outliners. And never the twain shall meet, apparently.
Standard Notes also has a subreddit where the developer is active, and from a brief look the (fairly geeky) users seem on-board with the app, although most seem to be asking for additional features.

Well, the conclusion to D'Alessio's 1st, intro video was "it's simple but it really does work" which damns with faint praise. The 2nd video, giving an overview of Premium, is interesting. D'Alessio says because of its complexity he wouldn't go to this as a "go-to editor, I'm much more comfortable with something a bit easier than this. But if it is something you are very keen on and interested in, especially for themes, I could see a lot of developers and programmers using this one..." and he trailed off, noting the different editors you can switch between. More faint praise.
Unlimited encrypted attachments via Dropbox/OneDrive/GoogleDrive or your own WebDAV server is pretty nice, so is revisions.
Going through the app's subreddit the developer confirm yesterday that something as simple as changing fonts is impossible in the free version, and difficult to do in the premium one - when someone asked, "How do I change the body text to Times New Roman without changing what editor I use?" the dev responded, _"I'm afraid that for an out of the box solution, there is no quick way to change the font (other than using the Plus Editor, but that gets you underlying HTML). For creating your own themes, you'd have to have some good development experience. We're hoping to make settings like these simpler in the future, but exact specifics are still TBD."_
So the only way to choose your font is by using a theme that offers that option - it's not available globally or under all themes. To me that's weird.

I know that InfoQube has the reputation of having a steep learning curve. Its basic concept is in fact **really** simple.
So please do not hesitate to ask questions, here or preferably on the IQ community forum, and download updates as we strive to make it easier to learn and use, with every version.

You're actually not too far from the truth, which is that there is something scary in actually "selling" something, and although I know that time is approaching, I'm still not ready to cross that bridge just yet !
To date, 31 "outliners" have taken advantage of this offer and I just sent out the 32 licenses

Thanks again Pierre, and I for one encourage you to take the step towards commercialisation; I'll come back with more on InfoQube once I have (again) taken the plunge, this time with real data.

Thanks again for the generous offer. It has motivated me to knuckle down and try to get over the learning curve that defeated me last time.
