Looks nice (sheetplanner.com).
What's the pricing scheme going to be? One-time license or subscription?

Paul,
It will be a one time purchase. Download trial and then in app purchase after 2 weeks.
I am thinking $69 or $79.
What do you think?

That's on the high end of task apps -- Omnifocus Pro territory. Without an web or an iOS companion app, without sync, and especially without an iPhone presence I think it's a push.
Are you going to participate in Setapp?

Paul,
Good feedback.
I will have to do some research into Setapp.
We may do a pro version ( We have a lot of functionality we plan to add over time) and offer that at a higher price and go with a lower price on the initial offering. Will figure it out over the beta period.
I look forward to your feedback on the beta.
Thanks,
Peter

Hi Peter,
I tend to agree with Paul that you're attempting a high price for an unproven product, especially single-platform. You could end up being very frustrated.
On the other hand, a 2-week test period is an excellent idea. You could even create an "indefinitely usable" trial version that would, however, be severely constrained in terms of features; this could function a good medium-term attractor.
And the idea of standard vs. pro is a good one!
Best of luck - I'm looking forward to the beta,
Bill

I have to say, the latest version of SheetPlanner is looking fantastically sophisticated! I begin to understand the pricing...

Peter, I definitely agree with Bill. And I like the Pro/Standard concept. From looking at screenshots and not the real deal, I definitely think you've designed a thoughtful, quite utile service.

First post here, but I totally suffer from CRIMP. I just wanted to say that Setapp is proving really excellent for getting new software out there. I can justify the monthly expense pretty much indefinitely given my app addiction and anything that goes in Setapp is going to get tried out.
Sheetplanner looks VERY interesting to me, but given the ridiculous number of similar programs I'm already using, it would need Setapp or a 30-day trial at minimum for me to even download it.

Jake,
There will be a two week trial program so you should be in good shape.
As regards there being a ridiculous number of similar programs, when you download it you will see it is quite unique ;)
Thanks,
Peter

A suggested revision to the sales pitch, as the site doesn't say whether the software is for Mac (which I know it is) or Windows:
SheetPlanner helps you organize information, plan your life and schedule your tasks and activities with unparalleled power and flexibility.

Some people like to have their completed tasks visible but crossed out. I'm happier with having completed items disappear. Other than deleting the lines of completed items one by one, will there be an option to have completed items disappear from view? Or should I just set that as a filter?

Jeff,
There is a menu item in the view menu 'hide completed rows'. Its also available in the toolbar and as an option in filters.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Peter

So far, no issues with the Sheetplanner beta. I've dispensed with Omnifocus and Things, and prefer it to all of my other myriad task list apps. I've been through hundreds of task managers ever since the release of Lotus Agenda. I just teach these days, so GTD-oriented apps are more than I really need. Sheetplanner fits my personality, and I'm a bit obsessive-compulsive.

Yes, looking very stable so far. I did notice a minor bug when I first started testing it a couple of days ago, but stupidly forgot to note it down and can't now replicate it (probably a good thing!).
I am now taking more detailed notes!
Cheers,
Bill

Looks great, but the lack of an iOS companion app is a no-go for me.

Luhmann,
The planned release cadence is 1.0, 1.1, 1,2, Pro version followed by iOS standard and Pro versions.
It will take about a year before we start work on iOS versions however about 50% of the the code will be portable.....
Thanks,
Peter

I'm happy to hear it, but my experience with apps that didn't start with iOS from the beginning has been very disappointing. I don't understand the technical issues but most apps have delayed planned release for years, had to bring on additional developers, etc. So while I hope that things go smoothly for you, my experience has taught me not to use an app unless there is already a half-decent iOS app that syncs properly.
Paul Korm

That's a very good point. On the other hand, although I have no special depth of understanding of iOS development, I've observed that making an app work effectively on both macOS and iOS has completely changed the dynamic for several developers. It appears from outside that once DEVONthink to Go was released, it sucked the focus development company away from the desktop product -- which pretty much ceased to evolve other than minor updates. When Agenda came out of iOS, new features stopped arriving for the desktop app. Even OmniGroup, which supposedly has a deeper bench than most, is unable to co-deliver on two platforms without a 6-12 month gap between. It took TheBrain almost 18 months after the desktop beta began to even offer an initially-week test of their iOS app.
So, though I would like to see SheetPlanner introduced everywhere quickly, I think Peter is making a reasonable decision in line with (unfortunate but real) best practices.

It sounds like Peter is making some good choices - one of which is *not* to burden himself with parallel development of an iOS app while he's perfecting the desktop (Mac) version of the software. I'd argue that a Windows version should take priority over an iOS app, but if he's going to cater exclusively to the overcrowded Mac market, he ought to focus on one product at a time rather than dividing resources.
As an underfed Windows user, I shed no tears for stout, jolly Mac users who must do without iOS versions of their enviable desktop software.
