Funny you should mention that. Over the past three weeks I have switched over to using index cards to organize my tasks (primarily) and ideas (to a limited extent). It began as an experiment motivated by the realization that I simply get too distracted by the internet and waste too much time. To begin the transition, I treated myself to some fancy 3 x 5 cards with rounded corners from the stationary store (https://www.baronfig.com/products/strategist)—which are dotted on one side, which I don’t like, but blank on the other—as well as some card boxes and index divider cards for organization. Each task gets its own card. As an added technique to limit my tech use, I have been using an app called Forest
. I have already found myself being more productive as well as greatly enjoying the organizational advantages of laying out and rearranging my note cards on a big desk. I am still doing most of my journaling and other writing on my computer, and I continue to use Tinderbox regularly. But on the whole, despite the significant trade-offs, I am relishing the old-fashioned joys of note cards after years of nearly exclusive computer use.

I used SuperNotecard until they decided to go to a subscription.
