I just noticed a new app on the Mac App Store called “Agenda” (remember Lotus Agenda?). I’m always willing to consider a new app of this type, but the “in app purchases” smell like a subscription to me.

Ah. I’ve been playing with Agenda for quite a while now - a very nice app, with outstanding support (with the novel concept of an in-app forum, working very well indeed).
The subscription, while it is indeed a subscription, is based on a new model. When you subscribe, you get all new features that are developed for the app in the year of your subscription as part of the deal. If you then decide to cancel, you KEEP the features you “earned” in your first year - they aren’t automatically withdrawn. This makes for a very different model that the usual “freemium” approach.
Well worth a look - an iOS app is on the roadmap and should be available in the first half of this year.

Yes, the subscription appears to be more like that of Tinderbox, with the difference that there’s no initial payment.
I’m pleased to hear about the imminence of the iOS launch - for a note-taking application on macOS, an iOS app to accompany it seems more or less essential these days. It certainly is for me.

That’s what I was thinking as well. I don’t mind paying annually for a Tinderbox subscription. What I don’t like is having to pay $x each month even when I’ve moved on to another app. I have to proactively search for that subscription and cancel it.
