Ken,
I have an app currently in development that is expected to launch in April that combines the functions of an Outliner with columns, calendar and timeline view.

The product is called SheetPlanner. It is exclusively for Mac at this time.

Its an offline product.

It offers many of the features of Airtable and more while being an Outliner and thus providing subtasks.
Keep an eye out.
