The latest version is really quite impressive - it’s nice to see somebody taking database development seriously in the face of FileMaker’s total dominance of the low-medium end of the market. Mind you, Tap Forms isn’t really an alternative to FileMaker (except for individuals), because it’s not designed to be shared by multiple people (although with care, it can be, due to the plethora of syncing options, which include IBM Cloudant, iCloud and direct WiFi transfer). The best modestly priced alternative to FileMaker Pro is Ninox, a German relational (in the lightweight sense) database management system that’s evolving very nicely. More details here: https://www.wimhofmethod.com
Tap Forms 5 can be used to create outline-a-like files very easily, since it now uses a library-like navigation bar on the left; saved searches appear as “folders” below the main database “document” in each case. It’s also got an excellent search function; very fast indeed. Oh, and text fields are rich text, which is nice - you can format more or less anything.
Cheers,
Bill

Bill, I think you got the URL wrong. Shouldn’t it be https://ninoxdb.de/en ?

I agree Tap Forms is very good. I use it as a data collector for Tinderbox—because of the iOS flavor—and export from Tab Forms to Tinderbox via CSV.
Of interest is that Bento, Apple’s lightweight database program (made by FileMaker) is still alive and working like a charm—if you happen to still have a copy you bought from the App Store before Apple abandoned the app five years ago.

Sorry, Franz, quite right - I copied the Wim Hof URL for somebody else. Certainly nothing to do with databases ;-)
