Hmm, perhaps you’re thinking of another app. The current version 5 does not require a single central node—and going back several years I can see numerous maps with multiple “main” nodes. Anyway, definitely v5 lets you click or press the background as often as you wish to add a “new main node”. There is no requirement for a hierarchy.
I’m not the person to ask to “justify” upgrades on mind mapping products—I always buy the upgrades. But there is a two week trial of v5, I think, if you want to work on justification.

I understand. The general model is one or more nodes with a constellation of dependent nodes. It’s hierarchical, but very useful.
I’ve upgraded to 5. It was a small fee, and I like to support companies that support writers.

Yikes, it went from Mind Node 2 all the way to Mind Node 5? I do have Mind Node 2, and tried to buy 5 on the Mac App store, but it is telling me that I have to fetch a code that is being sent to a cell phone that I haven’t owned in 11 years.

Am I still the only one who gets an error message from the App Store when I try to buy Mind Node 5? It keeps telling me “Before you can make purchases, PayPal must verify your account”, followed by a spinning wheel that never stops.

I think you might need to sign into PayPal in Settings first. (Just guessing - I haven’t used PayPal with the App Store yet.)
