Another option to consider is SuperNoteCard (http://www.mindola.com). It has some nice features. The drawback for me is that I find the editor a little clunky… probably due to its Java lineage. But definitely worth a look. It has the following features:

* Card-based organization.
* Hierarchical (outline?) view of material.
* Research/character reference area.
* Useful metadata for each card.
* Low cost ($29)
