It’s not totally unlike a rather nice app for macOS called Blik, which allows you to collect together folders and files from anywhere in “projects”. Each project (including “collections” of files and folders, “master folders” and selected files known as “highlights”) can be accessed very easily from a drop-down menu in the Menu Bar. It’s not as sophisticated as Freeter, obviously, but then it’s very cheap (and not on subscription).
Along with Research Wrench, Blik is an app I’m finding increasingly useful for my daily work.
Cheers,
Bill

It looks like Freeter might have been recently sold on Flippa.

This is really a shame as I started to set it up and really liked it. I was about to purchase the Pro plan before I read about the future development.
Hopefully the new owners will continue development.
