Outliner with symbolic links

Hi,
I noticed org mode, but the learning curve seems a bit steep and the visuals not too appealing. Is my quick perception correct?

Wow! I did not expect so many replies. Thank you all kindly!
I should have mentioned my OS, though. Sorry about that. I use Windows.
One app suggested here that is new to me (and runs on Windows :-) is Ultra Recall. I am going to check it out ASAP.

IT APPEARS THERE IS NO SUB-BRANCHING WITHIN THE THREAD, SO MY PREVIOUS REPLIES LOOK CONFUSING. SORRY ABOUT THAT. I WILL POST THE AGAIN WITH QUOTES.

it is very nice function, but it is not a symbolic link. See my answer about symbolic links around here, pls.
