Bits 'n T-scape Testing My Patience

Has anyone else had trouble with Bits today?
Bits say their new product shows up at 2300h eastern time the night before.
So I waited until 0200 central time, and then went to bed productless, sleepless, and pissed off. I wanted to miss the crowd.
This morning I get into Bits, and over to the T-scape store, and find out T-scpe will not accept my lowly Gmail account because it is free. Believe me, if I was out to con someone over the net, I wouldn’t be dependent on a free email account for my nefarious plot.
So I go to the other option: PayPal.
PayPal shows I have two MCard accounts—but it will only select the card that I allowed to die last year. I cannot get it to ccept the new card.
Or to change my account info to the lowly, tourist class Gmaill address.
I have now, including time I waited for Bits to live up to ther service standard, wasted three hours for a $40 saving—let’s see, my time is generally billed out at $100 or more an hour. Where do I go for my refund and registration.
I am joking about a refund, but right now I think about $25 is a fair price for T’scape given the aggravation.
I am even more disappointed because on the Efficient Academic list I got a real nice note from Argey, one of the developers of T-scape.
Ah, c’est la vie, c’est la guerre.

Actually, the change occurs at midnight. I had no trouble accessing the site (and new product) a few minutes after midnight on Jan 22 (nor on Jan 21, for that matter).
Giveawayoftheday sometimes has server problems that can last for hours.
PayPal is now owned by eBay, which cannot be trusted to abide by its privacy rules. Not only did it give my address to a bank trying to get me to open an eBay credit card account, it also gave the bank my eBay PASSWORD.

Cassius, as I was reading your post, I was talking with Nico Westerdale at Bits du Jour about the delay in getting today’s offer.
Apparently, when his company bought Bits some time back, it switched to a different email list for all new subscribers, precisely because of some issues with the old list program. He suggested I simply resubscribe, which I did.
So now I should get the notices at the right time.
Even though Nico was driving in traffic, and urban artifacts knocked our call out three times, we managed to reconnect. The guy’s a real gentleman, and has a firm grasp of what good customer relations is all about. I was genuinely impressed.
As for Topicscape, still can’t connect with them. And there’s the problem with free email accounts, both of which are beyond Bits’ jurisdiction. However, Nico, like many others who are knowledgeable about this stuff says the ban on Gmail et al doesn’t make sense.
So I’ll keep trying to get Tscape.
