I finally upgraded to El Capitan. Some of the software that I use routinely was updated and required Yowemite or El Capitan to run and I had held out on upgrading to Yosemite long enough that El Capitan came out. So I downloaded it, and in general I like it.
At the same time, Notesuite bit the dust. I had been using Notesuite primarily for a web clipper. Now that I have Notes from Apple, I don’t need Notesuite.
However, while it is fairly simple to get a web page or other information into Notes from Safari, I primarily use Firefox. Does anyone know if there is a bookmarklet or extension that will allow you to clip conveniently from Firefox and get the info into Notes?
I suppose that I could use Onenote to hold my web clippings-I have that set up in Firefox. But Onenote seems like kind of a big gun for such a small task.

I do not know of such an extension or bookmarklet, Jim. It’s possible that I’m simply ignorant, but it’s also possible that it doesn’t exist - perhaps because of the onward march of Evernote (until recently) and the lowly ranking in users’ esteem of Apple’s Notes (also until recently). Maybe with the improvement of Apple’s Notes under El Capitan that position will change, and other software, such as Firefox, will become eager to integrate with it.

It appears to be very easy to copy and paste bits of web page into Apple Notes, but I realise that’s not necessarily convenient. Mind you, I’m quite impressed by how well Apple Notes accepts web clippings (including links and graphics)! But it doesn’t automatically insert a backlink to the actual page for you, which is slightly annoying.
I don’t use Firefox myself, but surely right-clicking on a page and selecting ‘Services’ gives you a range of clipping options (that’s how I copy entire web pages into EagleFiler, myself)? Or doesn’t Firefox support that?

Another option, which has been widely discussed here before, of course, is Firefox’s outstanding Scrapbook extension. This would probably be the most resource-efficient alternative to OneNote. But isn’t cross-platform, unfortunately, which may be why you’re using OneNote etc.?

The ability to move web clippings or anything else to Notes is built into OS X El Capitan. With any application that has a Share menu, you can highlight text and then choose Notes on the Share menu. You can either create a new note (in the Notes folder) or add to another note (this is practical only with recent notes, which are listed first when you try to add to a note).
In addition, with the new version of Notes for El Capitan, you can create a folder hierarchy by dragging one folder into another. And folders with nested folders are collapsible in the folder list. This can be done for at least 3 levels—I haven’t tried more. In syncing with Notes on iOS 9 devices, the nested folders appear indented but folders are not collapsible.
You actually could create the nested folders in Yosemite, but they weren’t collapsible. And subfolders did not appear indented but were in a flat list on iOS 8 devices.
These changes from Yosemite to El Capitan and from iOS 8 to iOS 9 prompted me to switch from OneNote to Notes. I have a lot of notes in many folders so the ability to have at least 2 levels of folder hierarchy was important for me.
