Derek and Cassius,
Thank you for the suggestions about how to get GV to run in a window on my computer. It’s installed on my home computer, so I’ll give it a try this evening. Thanks, again.
There’s a nice review of GrandView, summarizing its strengths nicely, at the following URL:

It was written in 1991.

Cassius,
ALT-Enter worked like a charm. Thank you!

Great find, Steve.
I noticed that the review referred to one of Compuserve’s forums: “I was heartened to see that John Friend, GrandView’s author, was personally answering questions rather frequently on CompuServe.”
I imagine that storehouse of knowledge, like the information contained in most of the other pre-web-based Compuserve forums, was blown away by CIS. Sometimes one logged in to find a forum had completely vanished - no warning, even to the sysops. (CIS, incidentally, is still operating although the number of forums has been drastically reduced.)

I couldn’t get gv to open in a window until I used the /A command line argument to kill the splash screen.

LOL, I was the guilty party and I found it at:
