Ariadne Mail Problems

Many years ago I used Ariadne. I thought it was rather elegant, and did what it did well.
About 5 years ago the developer sold the program. The new developer made changes to the program which were difficult to understand or appreciate.
I see the new developer is attempting to market Ariadne 6 - which had been the last official version under the previous owner.
So I download it tonight. It won’t open up. The Windows message box says I don’t have a MSVCP120.dll
I use the new developer’s contact system and my email message is refused because I do not have a valid email. I am informed I need the email I used when I first bought Ariadne.
If http://www.prokarpaty.net/index.php is serious about making money from Ariadne first step may be having a system to communicate with users which actually works.
The site does not actually make it explicit whether Mr Prokarpaty is essentially trying to sell the old Ariadne to users, but is using a very different kind of site design with the hope that people won’t catch on.
Or, perhaps, one hopes, he has returned to the program as it was when he bought it, and is making thoughtful changes to it.
If you are reading this Mr Prokarpaty I would appreciate clarificiations of issues raised here. You still have the basis of a damn good product which, if intelligently developed would be unique and effect. It has been compared, and certainly with far greater potential than InfoSelect to which it has been combined.

Daly, I installed 6.14 without problems. You might have found a bug in version 6.15, which is the newest release.
There are issues with communicating with the developer. The old Yahoo group is dead and I was sending bug reports for many months to an address which Yuri later admitted he never checked ....
I do find the new version very confused and unintuitive, so I’m still using the free version 5.20.70, but I do follow developments and I’m keen for a new usable version to come out - the old Ariadne was a superb program.

Daly,
I came on here to post the exact same thing. The first time I tried to contact them about the problem it seemed to accept my message. When I didn’t hear anything for five days I tried again, and this time it rejected my message because I didn’t have a recognized email. Apparently you can only contact them if you’ve purchased the program.
What a waste of time.

Good points.
Why should anyone purchase a program without a trial period, and without any indication it is better than when the new developer originally bought it.
In some ways it is similar to InfoSelect - except back in the day *all* of its features actually worked and were more elegant than IS’s.
I loved working in IS because I could have note and accompanying comment windows open at the same time, moving them anywhere on the desktop, stimulating creativity in a way no other program has done for me.
Ariadne also had the ability like InfoSelect to set up grid notes and tables and, unlike InfoSelect’s, Ariadne’s grids and tables almost acted exactly as they were supposed to.

In case anyone is interested in downloading the freeware 5.20 version of Ariadne, I found it here:
http://www.freewareplanet.net/pim.php
It works fine on Win 7.
