Has anyone tried this one yet? It is free, simple (in a positive sense of the word), cross-platform and stores data in a plaintext files

Thank you for mentioning this. At your suggestion, I tried it. It is indeed minimalistic—which can be a good thing. These days I am thinking that “cross-platform” needs to include iOS and Android, which Elephant does not. Since it appears to be a Java app (it uses Java’s file dialog) there probably will not be a tablet version for now.

I haven’t tried it yet but I saw they say “For syncing use Dropbox, Github, rsync, ...”, so I presume it should be possible to access those plain text files using iOS and Android apps.
