In yet another attempt to avoid doing anything immediately useful, I downloaded Foldout (which Dr Andus pointed out months ago). It’s a really simple one pane outliner (Windows only), and dependent on .net. The commands are very obvious and intuitive. It exports to Word (bullets), HTML, and plain text. It has a good search. No styles, no hoisting, no multiple files, no cloning, no word count, no spell check, no checklists. And some people will be put off by the Outliner of Giants type boxes around each paragraph.
But for all of that, it’s free, and it’s one of those programs whose commands are so easily learned that it quickly moves into muscle memory, and it’s reasonably quick and handy. A nice little utility.
