I picked up the ultimate version for $25 last night ... deal extended another day.
I’ve used xplorer2 for years and I think it’s an excellent file manager - lots of capabilities that help me manage my info. This was a good way for me to upgrade from version 1.8 to 2.2.

I have not used a file or program “explorer” in at least 15 years. I put my important programs in the Start menu and assign keyboard shortcuts to them: CTRL-SHIFT-xxx. Some often used files are in are in a menu associated with the (left side) shortened Quick Launch toolbar. Often used folders are assigned keyboard shortcuts: SHIFT-ALT-yyy. Works well for me.

@jimspoon: Not so “off-topic” as you might be suggesting.
xplorer² is an incredibly powerful tool, and I use it to augment my information management capability. It’s of critical importance to me in that regard. I think I’d be kinda naked without it. It took me a while to discover what it could do for me, and I reckon I still use only about 60% of its capability.
@Cassius: Very droll.

How would xplorer2 compare to the new light edition of Dopus in terms of its functionality?
Dopus Light costs AUD29 (but it’s only for single machine), while xplorer2 PRO (single user, many machines) is USD29.95.
I missed this deal but I tried xplorer2 Lite Free recently and was impressed with it: http://www.zabkat.com/x2lite.htm

@drandus - Hard for me to compare to Dopus Lite, because I haven’t tried that one; been wedded to xplorer2 for a long time, but hadn’t made the upgrade to version 2 until now. I am sorry I didn’t post the BDJ link sooner, because it was a steal at $15.
This looks like a good intro to the features along with demo videos: http://zabkat.com/x2facts.htm
The PDF manual is excellent, and might also help: http://zabkat.com/x2docs.zip
One of the great features of xplorer2 is its “scrap containers”, where you can collect files from many different folders and work with them in a “flat” view. I sometimes use it in conjunction with Voidtools Everything. I can search for files with Everything, and then drag the found files into an xplorer2 scrap container where I can step through them and preview them - Everything has no preview pane.
I upgraded to version 2, hoping for improvements to file previewers. I chose the “ultimate” edition for $25 on BDJ rather than the “pro” edition for $15. The Ultimate edition is portable and promises faster desktop search. http://zabkat.com/x2port.htm
