Sad news….Looks like further development on Jello Dashboard is ending.

I’ve always had high regard for Nick’s work done on Jello. With development going back to 2006, it’s quite a tribute to his persistence and committment. But I can definately empathize with his point about MS constantly modding the Outlook/IE models and thereby mucking with the ability of Jello to function properly. At some point, it must be tiresome to have to constantly fix things that are out of your control.
In the interest of full disclosure, I will admit that our corporate laptops were recently transitioned to Windows 7, along with Office 2010 that includes OneNote, and I am finding there to be a quite a bit of capability with all of the pieces. But a discussion of the personal info workflow i’m getting into with the tools is outside the scope of this discussion.
Jello was (is) quite an amazing piece of work, and I lament it being at the end of the road. For those of us in locked down corporate environments, tools such as Jello that can be run without an install or admin permissions is always welcome. Based on past history, I suspect the ability of Jello to function properly will degrade over time as Outlook updates arrive….
