Jan, thanks for your detailed post -- helpful as usual.

I like the changes I am seeing.

I hope they have a hoist in mind, as well as multiple open windows -- both are essential for a two-pane program.

Depending how fare MI goes they could cut into UltraRecall's market. I think MI is deliberately trying to keep GUI simple and user-friendly.

Re Zoot beta -- I am using Zoot more and more.

I have printed out the whole Zoot manual, three-hole punched it, and put it in a binder.

I knew Zoot was good -- but what I am reading amazes me because of the ingenuity and thought that Tom Davis has put into the program.

I'd say to anyone -- whether you have tried Zoot and been turned off because it seemed too complicated, or never tried it at all -- go to the Zoot site, and download it. Then take your time to go through the initial aspects of using it.

It is not nearly as difficult or intimidating as it appears.

And the manual is a many times better than UR's.

Daly, except for 16 -> 32 bit (no small feat, for sure) is there any functional difference between Z16 & Z32? I had understood it was basically the same which is not to say that it is not an extraordinary program but that its former limitations remain its current limitations. Thanks.

The key question: does it allow greater than 32k notes.

Thank you for your post!
You are encouraging me to give Zoot a serious try.
Like you, I will print out the whole manual and put it into a binder to make sure I really understand the power of Zoot.

Even there is not rtf editor in Zoot yet I am surprised how good I can live without it. Using just plain text can help to focus on the content and not on the layout.

After thinking about my information mangement system during my long vacation in Bali I came to the insight that I want to narrow down my toolset. It is currently UR professional and Mind Manager 7 Pro. But Zoot is a strong competitor for UR. The only thing preventing me to migrate to Zoot is the workload of transferring all data from UR to Zoot. InfoSelect is not an option anymore (several reasons, one is pricing).
