As I understand, Crossover is the commercial version of Wine, the (non)emulator for running Windows programs under Linux and Mac.

The advantage of Crossover is that you don't need a Windows license. The disadvantage, that compatibility is not guaranteed.
You can try running 'unsupported' programs, also with the trial version. A BdJ user specifically tested MyInfo and it worked.

Has anyone tried running ConnectedText on a Mac using Crossover?

ConnectedText is actually one of the programs I would be interested in using Crossover Linux for, but unfortunately I have currently no access to my Linux machine.
In the Crossover compatibility database I see that ConnectedText is officially untested http://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/browse/name/?app_id=4216
There's a video in the same address explain it how to install and test (any program).
