For users of MindManager 5 who have not yet upgraded to version 6, the offer below may be of interest:
"From now until the 30th of May, upgrade to MindManager Pro 6 for € 109*(MSRP) and receive a free upgrade to MindManager Pro 7 and a free Mindjet Project Management Jetpack. (Jetpack is valued at € 49*.)"
More here:

For the rest of us MM6 users, I'm sure that a similar offer will turn up soon, if it hasn't already.

The deal is even better than that.
According to the US site, you can upgrade from MM 2002 & X5 to MM7 for US$119. http://www.mindjet.com/us/getmm7/?go_id=210
I notice that there are also separate MM7 Pro & Lite versions.

I am always impressed by the variety of formulas employed to provide "equivalent" prices for US and EU customers. Unfortunately, whatever the formula, EU VAT (Value Added Tax) makes some customers more equal than others.
Looking at the Mind Manager 7 specifications, I see that in keeping with its "seamless integration" with Microsoft Office, it has adopted the Fluent™ User Interface. As a long time user of such programs in their non-Fluent™ incarnations, I admit that it will be quite a while before I feel the need to upgrade.

Note, however, that there is no upgrade from the 2002 "Standard" version. You can only upgrade the "Business" version (or better).
This discriminatory upgrade policy has kept me from upgrading the product (and looking for a replacement). That being said 2002 does mind mapping well.
I predict that if you buy one of the cheaper versions you will not be able to upgrade in the future either.

One Footnote: if you own 2002 Standard, you do get a discount on one of the newer "lite" versions. But I don't see any compelling reason to shell out more than $100.00 for what appear to me to be cosmetic changes. For what I would really want, I would have to spend more than $300 (just like anyone who has never owned the product). Since I did buy the very first version, I stopped upgrading and won't upgrade until they change that policy. They have become too much like Microsoft in all kinds of ways.

I tried MindManager, but I preferred the free software called FreeMind :)
There is now a very nice flash browser for their maps to view in the browser, have a look

They are working closely with Microsoft what I believe is not a bad idea because MS Office is on around 80% of all PCs on this planet. The tight integration between MindManager and the MS Office applications is a great plus when entering the corporate market.
Apart from this, bashing Microsoft gets more and more boring because nearly everybody is doing it. Don't forget that Microsoft has some great products: Excel, OneNote and more.
If you don't agree with the pricing and/or upgrade policies of a company then just don't buy the software.

I thought that was my point exactly.
