I would like to suggest new software which is not listed in this portal.
General Knowledge Base from http://www.baltsoft.com/product_gkb.htm
General Knowledge Base is a program which provides an opportunity to create and manage your own knowledge base. Using General Knowledge Base the creation of your own knowledge base becomes quick and simple. The program’s interface makes it easy to use and handle.
Why would I need General Knowledge Base on my computer?
General Knowledge Base is a useful information organizer for collectors, hobbyists, librarians, writers and other professionals as well as for home users.
General Knowledge Base allows users to create knowledge bases with any type of documents. It is an optimal tool for categorizing, processing, finding and describing documents, information and data. It allows the user to keep documents organized, to add notes and attachments, and to export documents into different file formats at any time.
Creating, editing and deleting documents with General Knowledge Base is very simple, and does not require any specialized knowledge. Every document can contain additional notes and attachments, which are also easy to create and manage.
General Knowledge Base makes documents easy to find and retrieve. There is no need to spend time searching for files and folders on your computer. Users can see all documents and information organized by category and topic. Powerful search and filtering engines makes documents easy to find with just a few keywords.
In addition, documents and notes may be formatted with an MS Word-like rich-text editor. This makes General Knowledge Base perfectly suited for keeping various information such as notes, recipes, famous quotations, tables, pictures, Web-links, and even entire pages from the Internet.

The post regarding General Knowledge Base appears to be a cut and paste from the developer’s web page, so one imagines the sender may be connected with the developer. Whether that is the case or not, it would perhaps have been more useful if you had discussed why GKB may be superior to other products on the market.
Thanks.

Daly,
Tomas is the developer of GKB. I used the program awhile back, and I found it interesting, but it had a few shortcomings (unfortunately, I can’t recall right off the bat). Might be worthwhile to try the latest version.

I’ve just downloaded the latest and gave it a quick try. As I said before, it’s a nice program, but it fell short for me on severl fronts:
1. There is no way to change the units for page margins and the ruler. I know for the rest of the world, this sounds silly, but I’m so used to the British system that I need that option.
2. There is no way (as far as I can tell) to export searched results (I think you can export or print one topic at a time). This is must for any program I use.
3. No ability to filter the topics/categories.
I think those were the show stoppers for me, but YMMV.
