Sister forum launched to discuss theory, psychology, etc.

Since it seems that recently quite a few topics have tended to veer off into the territory of theory, psychology, brain science, etc., and away from software, I have decided to launch a sister forum for discussion of those topics. I know quite a few of us seem interested in those topics, but many others may wish that we would limit ourselves on this forum to the discussion of software and its application only.

If you are interested in such things, please join us over at http://www.mypersonalproductivity.com/ (and let's try to keep the discussion here focused on software).

Everything works the same on the new site, but you will need to register and login separately. If you just want to follow the RSS feed, it's http://feeds.feedburner.com/MyPersonalProductivity

Thanks,
Chris

Awesome!

Why do I get the feeling that this is the Southpark crack baby basketball episode, and I'm the crack baby?

By the way, what script are you using for this forum? It's quite effective.

I wrote the forum software, using the CodeIgniter framework.

Outstanding! I'm very impressed.

Good move on the separation (although now we need some way to cross-refer topics in this forum and the new one - there's a little programming challenge!).

Excellent Chris, many thanks.

Re cross-referencing; copying links has been good enough for me in this forum, I don't see any reason to not extend it across the two.

Nice work. There are many things that I like about the forum. It does not do everything, but what it does, it does well. A good example of software with almost no learning curve, and maximum payback. You are a great host, Chris!

Thanks,

Thanks Chris. Would it be possible to put a link into the header (or the left pane) on both forums to the other forum? It would just save a few clicks...

Cheers!

Thanks, everyone!

I've added a link to the other site in each forum's left bar.

Great! Thanks for that, Chris.

Chris, one of the important safeguards you've offered in this forum offers from the start is the ability to download a text copy of all messages posted (one must be logged in). Two points:

- I've noticed that the file in outlinersoftware stops somewhere in mid 2010; can it be updated?

- Can you arrange the same functionality in the new forum?

Chris Murtland 11/18/2011 11:18 pm
The text file for this forum is now being updated again (it should update once per day), and I've added the same text file to the new forum.
