I am using Direct Access and I am very happy with it.

Dominik, on your recommendation I downloaded Direct Access, did what I was told, and then when I opened it up I found I had only a 30-day free trial. I don't need Giveaway for that.

I tried to email Direct Access customer support and got a screen note saying "the network is busy."

I am not impressed so far.

Here is the note I attempted to send them:

"I got Direct Access on today's Giveaway. I did what I was told to do. Now when I open it I find I have only a 30-day trial period.

"What is the problem? Please advise.

"Thank you."

I hope I can get this straightened out before the deadline.

Dominik, I got the note through to the developer, and also sent the same not to Giveaway.

Have you ever had problems with Giveaway?

Daly,

I'm also using DirectAccess and am quite happy with it, and Andrea (the developer) is very reactive to problems.

My experience with the Giveawayoftheday website is that programs are delivered with a special activate.exe program which you must run first to activate the software (it tags it to register it and, I presume, to prevent you accessing updates etc.). If you failed to do this, you'll get a normal trial version.

Hope that helps. I'm sure Andrea will be in touch with you soon!

Daly, also read the comments at http://www.giveawayoftheday.com/direct-access/#comments - it looks like you should receive a registration by e-mail - perhaps it's been blocked.

Daly,

On the GOTD website, if you scroll down, you'll see a whole lot of posts referring to DirectAccess. Andrea seems to be responding almost on real-time to issues. If the answer is not already there, I'm sure he'll be happy to cover it.

That said, my own experience with GOTD is good, though I've only installed a couple of programs. As Graham said, you need to run the Activate program _before_ installing. If you haven't done that, you'll probably have to uninstall the trial version, run Activate and then install it again (unless the procedure is different with this particular program).

Daly,

this is the description from the readmet.txt file coming with the download from Giveawayoftheday:
"Installation

Unzip the package you`ve downloaded and install the software by running Setup.exe, then register your copy of Direct Access at

http://services.nagarsoft.com/god/register.aspx

Remember that you have to install and register it before the Giveaway offer for the software is over."

Thanks to all for your posts.

I thought I had followed the instructions.

In any event, I got a url from Direct Access, and have just now followed the instructions that came with it.

The response from Direct Access was very, very fast!

So thanks to you, and thanks to Direct Access.

Now I'm impressed!
