Hi folks - just a quick note to let you know that Smereka TreeProjects (http://personaldatabase.org/) has recently been updated to version 1.0.4. This introduces a rather elegant template concept, whereby you can mark any note you like as a “template”, whereupon it is displayed in a list of templates for new notes. You can extend/reduce the list simply by ticking/unticking the “Template item” option on any note’s context menu. It’s a very neat solution. I’m becoming increasingly fond of Smereka TreeProjects because of its speed, excellent search function, accurate import of web pages (not quite as good on RTF files, but not bad) and the way you can open multiple notes and view them side by side, one above the other etc. etc. Oh, and it works very nicely on my netbook (currently sitting in Waterstone’s, marvelling at the fact my 3G USB modem can actually connect to the network from the basement coffee shop - very impressive!).
And those who have iPads will be delighted to hear that if, like me, you also have a netbook, you can use the latter as an ad-hoc WiFi hub for the former. Or, of course, you can use something like DisplayLink to turn your iPad into an extra screen for your netbook. Ah, the digital lifestyle!

Sorry for the last abbreviated post.
Quick question: How does one import a picture/image into the RTF note in Smereka? I can’t find any image options other than to attach a file.

No, I don’t think you can, unfortunately - no copy ‘n’ paste option, for example. You can import HTML files with images, however, in which case they will be embedded very efficiently in the note. But I agree: images and tables are the two shortcomings. I tend to use Smereka as a repository for imported RTF and HTML files (which can contain tables, images and more or less anything else).
Cheers,
Bill

Just copy your image into the clipboard and paste it into a rich text note. You can copy the image from an image viewer or the browser.
Yes, this is a user interface omission, since a dedicated “Insert image” button would be much more convenient; however, you can use the clipboard way meanwhile. (The imagebutton is on the to-do list for the next versions.)
