This from Steve Cohen:
1. Should this forum ever disappear, there is a Yahoo! group, Outliners-PIMS, that members can start using. This Yahoo! group was set up by Steve Cohen as a “safe retreat” when the original forum, Outliners.com (started by Dave Winer) started having problems with accessibility.
THIS IS NOT AN INVITATION TO START POSTING THERE unless some disaster befalls this forum. (This forum was developed by Chris Murtland, to whom we all owe a debt of gratitude.)
CHRIS: I don’t recall seeing any postings from you lately…Is everything OK? I’m sure you haven’t found “the Perfect PIM” and so no longer needs this forum.
2. Someone has posted the GrandView program at the Outliners-PIMs group. It will be removed soon unless the poster can prove that the copyright has expired or that he has permission of the program owners.

I’m fine!
I’ve had so much “real” work lately that I haven’t been able to spend any time recently on adding new features to the forum, but I am glad to see everyone’s discussions here. I read every post and glean useful insight from a lot of them.
While we’re on the topic of the forum, I will note that I will be upgrading the server this site is on in a week or two. I will announce more details soon, but the site should only be down for a few minutes.
I haven’t found the perfect PIM/system yet. A big goal for me this year is to settle down and not switch programs all the time. I’m also leaning toward small, focused tools for different jobs rather than one centralized application. UR pretty much meets my needs as a centralized info database, but my current file is 500MB and growing steadily - that’s a little less portable than I would prefer. So, I’m rethinking how my core info can be lightweight while still using tools like UR for certain information that I don’t have to move between computers all the time.
