Freeplane *used* to be my mapping sw of choice until I found MindMaple
Lite. Although I eventually got familiar with Freeplane, I always found
it difficult to use and even harder to get appealing (and visually
memorable) results. MML not only produces awesome graphics, for me it
was completely intuitive and very easy to use. Although it doesn't have
all the bells and whistles of FP, this freeware more than meets my needs
and if you haven't tried it, you should probably at least consider it.

I'll second that. I was looking for a mind-mapper, and so briefly tried Freeplane and VUE. Both seemed - as they say these days - counter-intuitive, by finding obtuse and clumsy ways to do what should be easy. [Of course, it may well be that it is my mind that is obtuse and clumsy.] I have had MindMaple Lite for an hour, and it is designed to do things in what I would call logical and 'natural' ways. It really flows well. Of course, these are early days, but I have uninstalled the other two programmes. This one works, quickly.
