UberNote continues to develop as an alternative to EverNote. Here's a url to their announcement of a new version: http://blog.ubernote.com/2010/08/august-26th-update.html

The UN blog also annouced users will have an opportunity to support the program through a paid version; when the paid version is implemented, the free version will begin to accept paid advertising. This arrangement seems reasonable, for it takes money to develop a program.

UN is a good program. However, I eventually switched to EverNote because UN does not faithfully reproduce clips. For example, it removed spaces between paragraphs on text blocks, and that is a major PITA.

However, in terms of a cloud program, it is probably the main competition to EverNote.

A further observation on UberNote - it appears to have problems playing nicely with Chrome. For example, the upper part of the main window gets "lost" in the sense I have no way to retrieve it through scrolling. I then have to use the back arrow on the tool bar.

That - and UN's (already mentioned in previous note) tendency to remove spacing lines when clipping from the web - are problems.

A relatively new feature is the to-do check boxes, which can be placed in any note. All tasks can be retrieved so a person can see all their to-do items.

Daly, I noticed that their list of supported browsers does not include Chrome: http://www.ubernote.com/webnote/pages/checklist.aspx

That's a real oversight on UN's part.

Thanks for the comments guys!

UberNote does work well with Chrome. In fact that's what I use it for everyday. Try to reload your page or visit UberNote again. If you were a previous user the styles may have had an issue loading in the correct order, which could have caused the funny offset.

I'll update the compatibility page, that part was an oversight.

Thanks for jumping into the group here - can we call you Uber for short? Just kidding!

My ongoing concern with UN has been deletion of lines separating paragraphs when clipping from web pages. Is it possible to offset this annoying behaviour - it makes it harder to read clips later, and it is a time waster to have to add lines paragraph by paragraph.

Also, is there any possibility of developing an ability to select only those items which have two or more tags in common?

Thanks.
