There has been some discussion on this forum about the unique qualities of the Mac-only writing software Scrivener: http://www.outlinersoftware.com/topics/viewt/1074 .
Like many stuck in PC-land, I have been waiting for a Windows version. For years. I have even contemplated adding a second-hand Mac to my computer collection just to run Scrivener, as many writers have done. The developer has occasionally hinted at a Windows version, maybe, sometime.
Well I found this on Twitter: http://twitter.com/ScrivenerApp/status/14290901261
It offers a link to join a mailing list for people interested in a Windows version, with a suggestion that there might be an announcement sooner rather than later. Fingers crossed!

This is a good news to writers who use Windows.
I'm the developer of Writing Outliner - a Word add-in that's mostly inspired by Scrivener (Kudos to Keith Blount). So If you want to stick with Microsoft Word maybe it's worth checking out:

I think using Microsoft Word + Writing Outliner at least has one advantage - you work on the "end format", you don't have to use a program to write and use another to do the advanced formatting, as Writing Outliner user Derek explained here:

From Twitter about the Windows version timeline:
"Couple/few months maybe? Santa? Sorry, we need to have progress meetings before I can really give you anything credible! ;)"

Just got the email. Seems that Scrivener for Windows is coming soon. Go here:

I'm already a Mac convert. But I bet many Windows users would be delighted to hear the news :)
