And another one
Free and only a 1.2mb download from http://faststone.org/
Uses 5000k of memory which is a lot less than Techsmith SnagIt, which like DTSearch I have used for years and updated all the way up to the latest version.
SnagIt has some additional features but I never used them. FastStone capture seems to have everything I need to grab a screen improve resolution and resize, annotate and paste into a report.
All the programs at this site are amongst the best I have used.

Thanks for this, Graham.
FastStone is amazing. Amazing that its apps are free. Amazing that they offer so much that I haven't seen elsewhere.
I particularly like the Image Viewer's Wallpaper Anywhere function. Turns your screen into a virtual cork board. You select images from your hard drive. Arrange into a montage - a pretty scene or something useful. Frame and resize them. Adjust the transparency of each image - you can get extremely powerful effects by doing this. Save as your new wallpaper. Very cool.
