A wonderful Mac app known as Coppice, originally developed by Martin Pilkington who then, alas, died, has been updated and brought back to the Mac App Store by a friend of his, Stephen Troughton-Smith (M Cubed Software).

It's an unusual combination of writing / note-taking tool with mindmap – very flexible, very enjoyable to use. For more details see https://coppiceapp.com

I mourned its disappearance, and I'm delighted it's back!

I remember this one. I think I found it when it was a bit stagnant, now I see why. I found it interesting at the time

RIP to the original dev (https://mjtsai.com/blog/2025/02/16/martin-pilkington-rip/ and I wish it success but I'm wary. I own a couple iOS and Mac apps by Troughton-Smith and some are good, some terrible. His internet radio app Broadcasts, for example, has been a mess for years: inferior to competitive apps which show many times the number of radio stations worldwide, and impossible to see at a glance which of the multiple streams for an individual station to choose (there are often different encoders and different quality levels, and you can't see which is which without opening each one and doing a Get Info).

Interesting. I've been playing with Coppice (not for long, admittedly), and so far it's been rather good. There are things still missing and a couple of clunkers, but also some very nice, elegant touches.
