Hi everyone — just registered here. I've been building an outliner called NotesGarden and figured this was the right forum to introduce it, since it's aimed squarely at people who already know why they want an outliner.

In NotesGarden, outlines are organised into Spaces. A whole Space or any subtree within one can be shared with others, and at any depth rendered in one of three views:

List view — the classic outliner, like Workflowy or Dynalist.
Column view — Miller columns, same layout as macOS Finder in column mode. Great for navigating large hierarchies.
Article view — a clean reading layout where text items are automatically transformed into headings based on the outline's structure.

No native desktop binary yet — that's on the roadmap.

I'd genuinely love feedback from people here since power-users notice things that casual users don't. Happy to answer anything. :)

Most interesting! I'm always impressed when someone manages to gin up a fresh take on an app.

Will check it out. Thank you!

Thanks, I appreciate that. I believe good software should be invisible, so I’ve focused on simplicity and flexibility to keep the mental load low in NotesGarden.
I’m especially interested in where existing outliners start to feel heavy or limiting for you.

Love the look of this, but (a) it's online-only at the moment? And (b) the subscription price is perhaps a wee bit ambitious for a brand-new solution?

But a really nice idea!

Agreed with the above that it looks promising! Any chance there will be (or perhaps already is) a “Daily Notes” or ”Daily Desk” feature? I'd also say I need an iOS/iPad iOS app for it to really be my daily driver.

You’re totally right on the pricing - given it's a new solution. So I’ve dropped it to a $3/month “founding member” plan, and that price is locked in forever: http://notesgarden.com/pricing
Thanks for calling that out — super helpful ?

Yes, it’s online-only for now — but apps are next on the list. I’m starting work on them next week, aiming for cross-platform (including mobile), so it’ll be way more convenient to use.

On "Daily Notes": there isn’t a dedicated feature for it, but it actually works pretty well. I personally use it for different journals inside the same workspace, so instead of forcing one structure, you can organize things however you like.
If you want to give it a try, here are 2026 templates you can just copy into your own setup:

As for iOS/iPad — there’s no native app yet, but mobile support in the browser is solid right now. Proper apps are on the roadmap though ?

Hi Daniel, thanks for the heads up. Notesgarden looks like an interesting concept and I'm happy to try it out.

The fact that you've added signup/in via Google is very useful, but it only seems to work with free Gmail, and not with professional Google workspace accounts. Could you include that latter as well?

Hi Daniel! Thank you for sharing. I will definitely keep an eye on the product, integrated date-awareness is a bit of need for me (“next Friday”, etc). I work across often many little date-sensitive projects at once, where who did what in which order impacts me and my team. It looks super promising though, and I’ll admittedly and probably CRIMP into it from time to time.

Hi Alexander, thanks for giving NotesGarden a try!
We tested Google sign-in with Google Workspace accounts and it’s working on our side. When it doesn’t work, it’s likely due to security settings in Google Workspace. In this case, a Google Workspace admin would need to allow NotesGarden in the Google Admin Console: Security > Access and data control > API controls > App access control
There, they can mark it as "Trusted" to allow Google sign-in.

Just let me know if that fixes it, or if something else might be causing it.

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback!

For dates, NotesGarden already supports entering both exact dates and relative dates like "next Friday": https://notesgarden.com/help/lBG2ulgA77dm-add-dates-and-deadlines-to-items
You can also search for them: https://notesgarden.com/help/2G42b2qC8HgL-find-anything-with-search#h-VMDXww3v1WE3

The "who did what in which order" is a really interesting requirement. One way to approach this is to create a search like "is:checked changed-by:others"
You can then star the search so it appears in the sidebar. From there, you can open "View all results" in the search modal, which gives you a list of all tasks completed by others—sorted, for example, by "Recently changed."
All starred searches are live searches, so whenever there’s a new result, you’ll be notified. In the search modal, you can also mark results as read/unread, which makes it possible to use these searches almost like an inbox.
