Mindsystems Theme Reader

Hello,
I just tested Theme Reader (so to speak, it just gave me errors in return), and the support mentioned that they will switch from the Cirilabs engine to Context Organizer. So I had a look at this one, and besides problems with some specialities of the german language, it looks that it is no longer under active development.
Does anyone know alternatives to these, meaning: software that creates summaries of documents and webpages?

Thanks,
Peter.

Hi Peter,

I am not sure about what exactly you are looking for, but maybe you want to check out InfoRapid's KnowledgeMap - it is a quirky kind of Software that supports managing knowledge in either tabular or mindmap formats, allows import of various document formats and does support some kind of textual analysis. And... it is from a german developer, so it should provide all the required support for Umlaute and even the "?".

Hello Susanne,

thanks for your answer.
I am looking for a tool that scans documents and web pages and produces some kind of summary. Some tools have the ability to recognize major themes and keywords, and the original document can then be read using this information.

Best regards,
Peter.

Peter,

I use Copernic Summarizer sometimes:
http://www.copernic.com/en/products/summarizer/

From their web page:
"Feature Overview
Creates document summaries of any text file (including PDFs) or Web page
Copernic Summarizer can analyze a text of any length, on any subject, in any one of four languages, and create a document summary as short or as long as you want it to be. It can summarize Word documents, Web pages, PDF files, email messages and even text from the Clipboard.

To be honest, the results are not very useful, but one can get some ideas what a document or a page is about if there is no time for careful reading.

Best regards,

W.

Hi Peter.

I also tried Copernic Summarizer a few years ago with German and English texts. The results were not really useful. That may have changed in the meantime - but honestly I do not think so.

Hello Wojciech, hello Franz,

thanks for your answers.
I checked Copernic Summarizer, and it is indeed not very useful. Just a simple scan for words without any further processing (except export).

Best regards,
Peter.
