The BYOK writing device folks have announced a companion app to the BYOK mobile writing device.
The video and related information can be found on the BYOK’s web site, byok.io.
It might be easy to misinterpret the feature set. It looks like a mashup of Scrivener and Plottr, perhaps with the option to display the Binder as a Plottr thread grid.
But don’t take my word for it. As has been immortalized in song, I’ve got smoker’s cough from smoking, brewer’s droop from drinking beer. I don’t know how I came to have the Bette Davis knees, but worst of all my friends I’ve got a case of CRIMPing disease.
It’s rough.

An update - it’s a web app. More power to those who find solutions in the cloud. For me, local only is best, local first is a minimum requirement.

I had never heard of the BYOK gadget before. An interesting concept, but I feel like it is redundant to a smart phone or tablet. Yes, it is “distraction free,” but I’ve always felt that when I’m writing, I’m in a zone and not prone to distractions. Who knows, however. Maybe a device like that would make me a more productive writer. Depending on the final price tag, I may take a chance on it.
As for the writing app, that looks very promising. I used to be leery of cloud-storage apps, but I have not had any issues with it, and I find knowing I can access my writing (or info, or whatever) from anywhere I can get on the Internet to be reassuring. Of course, a convenient and reliable way to make local backups is crucial.
Thanks for the tip!

One of the reasons I liked my old Neo was it was more replaceable than my laptop. I could carry it on my open sailboat in a dry bag and write while beached somewhere. Not the environment I would want to expose my Macbook to. The BYOK would be less heartbreaking if I got drenched by a jetski.
