Is Evernote Becoming Useful?

I know that Evernote has long been far out of favor here (and I dropped it in favor of Reflect—thanks, Steve—and Obsidian). But I keep seeing updates on the one device where I still have it, and heard an interview with the product leader at the company that acquired it in which he sounded pretty sensible. It made me wonder if it is improving to (or toward) the point where it is a quality option. I do miss its cross-platform (Macs/Windows/Web/Phone) and webclipping strengths. Are folks still relying on it? Have its export options improved? Thanks for any input.

Perhaps you were refering to the Vergecast’s episode a few months ago about ‘The Great Evernote Reboot’?

I think most of Evernote’s problems were self-inflicted, especially after the current owners laid off most of Evernote’s staff then offered no changes for months. That’s a lot of institutional knowledge that disappeared. This year the app’s design has been revamped and some new features have been added (while switching to a bloated Electron-based app that lost functionality from the legacy app), but prices have increased yet *again*, and cheaper alternatives (OneNote, Apple Notes, UpNote, Notion, Joplin, Obsidian, NotesNook, etc etc) offer more features.
As for your question about export, last I heard they are still allowing only a maximum of 100 notes exported per day. The legacy version didn’t have that limit, but that app was killed off in March. That’s resulted in some clever hacks from competitors to help people import their Evernote files.
