It’s the second—I am using Mesh to sync just about everything between my PCs (and Macs!) and the cloud (i.e. it works peer to peer but you can also store the same data on a cloud datastore).
Works with all file based formats (so should work with any bookmark tool as well); only caveat is with database files, depending on the application if you have them open on one machine and then use another they are locked against write access (as part of folder synchronization) so that would lead to “conflict” messages that you have to manually resolve in the Mesh UI.
Only good workaround for this is to quit all database tools that you want to sync before moving to a different machine (since Mesh isn’t intended to do that application level sync for you).

Thanks for the reply. While syncing through the clouds is certainly convenient, and I am now starting to work with several web-based programs that sync to various computing devices, I still need to have LinkStash with me, and so the USB drive does have its merits. We are not allowed to install personal software on our work machines, so unless a program is web-based, a USB drive is my only other convenient option. and, I am not aware of any web-based bookmarking programs that offer what LinkStash does, but I am always open to suggestions.
