LinkStash is an excellent bookmarks manager that works with IE, Firefox and Opera (the reason I originally chose it). The latest build has added experimental support for Google Chrome. It has been discussed here in the past. It is the product of the same developer as ClipCache.
I have been using LinkStash for years and, frankly, I wish there were more programs like it: stable, fast, unintrusive, does what it says with minimal memory footprint and the processor probably doesn't know it's there. It can be ran from a USB stick so that you can carry your bookmarks everywhere. Given its power and minimal resource use, it often makes me wonder what 'contemporary' bloatware really does.
The only thing I miss are cloned items, i.e. available in more than one folders (though I am unaware of any bookmark manager that boasts such a feature), but one can work around it with tags.

I purchased it on Alexander's recommendation and find it to be quite useful. I especially like that it runs off of a USB drive so I can carry it with me to work.

carrying around a USB stick for this is a total anachronism IMHO when there are web based synchronization services like Mesh.com.
Unfortunately the LinkStash licensing schema would have required me to purchase full licenses for each of my PCs.
No way this product is worth $150 to me on that basis ...
So I'll keep using PersonalBrain for URL bookmarking which is well suited to the task except for the longer startup times and lack of direct browser integration (drag&drop works fine but there's no toolbar or contextual menu).

Can you explain how you are using Mesh for bookmarking? Or are you just using it to synchronize the file containing the bookmarks? If its the latter, than what web based bookmarking software do you recommend instead of LinkStash?

It's the second -- I am using Mesh to sync just about everything between my PCs (and Macs!) and the cloud (i.e. it works peer to peer but you can also store the same data on a cloud datastore).
Works with all file based formats (so should work with any bookmark tool as well); only caveat is with database files, depending on the application if you have them open on one machine and then use another they are locked against write access (as part of folder synchronization) so that would lead to "conflict" messages that you have to manually resolve in the Mesh UI.
Only good workaround for this is to quit all database tools that you want to sync before moving to a different machine (since Mesh isn't intended to do that application level sync for you).

Thanks for the reply. While syncing through the clouds is certainly convenient, and I am now starting to work with several web-based programs that sync to various computing devices, I still need to have LinkStash with me, and so the USB drive does have its merits. We are not allowed to install personal software on our work machines, so unless a program is web-based, a USB drive is my only other convenient option. and, I am not aware of any web-based bookmarking programs that offer what LinkStash does, but I am always open to suggestions.
