For the past few months Simplenote was working worse and worse. The syncing has become unreliable, resulting in the loss of important notes. Simplenote has stopped supporting external clients. You can see the discussion here:

This is very sad. I’ve relied on it for years, using it together with Resophnote client on desktop and mobile. I loved its speed, simplicity, storing notes as separate text files. Its recent decline is forcing me to explore new options.
Do you know any alternatives (Windows)?

Not great news and a bit surprising of Automattic. I have some archive information in the program that I may want to backup if they cannot resolve the issues.

The most Apple Notes-like app for Windows that you might like is UpNote, which has a one-time unlock for (allegedly) unlimited storage. As I’ve opined here in the past, that’s financially untenable long-term, but as of now it’s a solid cross-platform alternative.
Another option is Joplin, which is open source, has been around for years and continues to be intensely developed.
Other options include Obsidian, Standard Notes, Google Keep (and/or Google Docs), and Microsoft OneNote.

Thx,
I’ve just found Notesnook, and it looks really promising.
Glen has mentioned it in another thread

Capacities (capacities.io) is also worth a look, as is the increasingly promising AnyType (anytype.io)
