The strategy I used was to export every note twice, once as the HTML copy including the rich formatting from Evernote, and another one converted to Markdown with a link to the HTML note. I moved the HTML versions and all of the images into an attachments folder. I have used "Yarle" for the migration because Obsidian at that time did not yet support importing from Evernote. Also, I created a separate vault for my Evernote archive, because I did not want to clutter my normal Obsidian vault with all the archived stuff much of which is outdated. If necessary, you can still link from one vault to the other using Obsidian links.
