I did some googling on the status of Tiddlywiki as an outliner, as I like the idea of a self-modifying small single file option for specific projects (rather than as a full knowledge base).

Most of the hits were many years old and I got the idea that several people were working on integrating Outlining into Tiddlywiki, but I cannot figure out the "state of the art" as to now.

I also see that TW has a recent competitor in Feather.wiki which I have tried recently and liked, but it doesn't seem to have any expand/collapse/hoist etc features built in. Feather wiki allows easy html customization and I might be able to get some outlining html or JavaScript code to work within it, but I am not an expert on that.

My question is generally this: does anyone have advice on state of the art free single file self-modifying code such as TW or FW that might lend itself to a dedicated outlining project that can easily be distributed as a single file?

I would prefer that it allow self-modification so I guess that means I am not so interested in all of the many programs that can export to html, unless it produces some killer-looking ouput.

I actually use Ecco (Eccoext) to output some fairly nice looking html code now, and that is part of what got me started thinking about this.

This project has slowed down considerably and I haven't heard of outline integration being mentioned in a very long time. I'd consider using an actual outliner (including newer options like Logseq) with separate files/databases (in the cloud if you need wide access) for your projects if you don't want a single monolithic outline.

It's one of the nicest outliner-style TiddlyWiki solutions I've ever seen (and uses vertical tabs, too, like Obsidian). The outlines fold/unfold, etc. precisely as they should.

This looks very nice on an Android phone (which is the only way I checked it out so far). I wish Roam would be this easy to use on Android.

Has anyone had experience of using this in Windows on a regular basis (or even ChromeOS, should it be possible to run this from Google Drive)?

I see that Tiddlyresearch is archived and points to a more recent Tiddylstudy, which on first glance appears to have fewer features. Anyone following the development of these and/or using them, as Dr Andrus asked, to let us know the status of development on those?

Otherwise, while TiddlyStudy doesn't look as sophisticated as TiddlyResearch, it does appear to have taken over all the most essential features and slimmed them down.
