Hello all,
Just found out about this forum, and this looks like a great place to post a request like this. I've tried numerous apps recently (on Windows 10 desktop), looking for one that meets my specific needs. The best thing I've found so far that comes closest to what I want is Morgen. I love how it has a folding "tree" style nested task list on the left, and you can drag and drop a task over to the right side to put it in a specific time block on a specific day. And it allows the items in the tree (the task list) to be sorted *manually* which is a must for me (unlike Obsidian, which can only do 'alphabetically' without a plugin).
That's basically the type of program I'm looking for -- something that's like CherryTree or Joplin on the left side, with a good "drag & drop" time blocker / scheduler on the right side that features a multi-day or "week" view" (each vertical column represents a "day", with an "all day" section at the top, and 30 min or hourly slots below that). There are a few things that would make Morgen better though (and would end my search!) ...
1) The task list "tree" on the left side only allows 2 layers of "sub" tasks (at least a few more layers would be ideal).
2) On the right side where you time block, when you double-click to open the task notes/details, that popup is a small window which doesn't show much text above the fold (without scrolling). A much bigger or resizable popup would be ideal, to show more text (OR, maybe even a dedicated window to show the task notes / details). Some of my tasks have LOTS of notes!
3) I'd also like better formatting & hyperlink options in the task notes / details popup (you can do some basic Markdown stuff in Morgen, but dedicated rich text formatting & hyperlink buttons would be ideal). And the ability to attach or link to local files and folders would be great too (in addition to http links).
4) Morgen doesn't seem to have the ability to back up files locally, which makes me a little nervous!
A few other features that are important (which Morgen DOES do well), are.... automatic sync to mobile (Android), and robust word search / tagging functionality.
I'd prefer downloadable Windows 10 software (not a fan of browser-based options for this particular type of application). And either freeware, or a reasonable one-time payment would be fine (not interested in ongoing monthly payments).
Any thoughts or ideas?
Thanks for reading!
