Windows Note Taking App

I've been evaluating new note taking apps for Windows (Second Brain/PARA craze). I'm going old school on this one and want a real windows program. I also looked at Obsidian, I've used OneNote off and on for years, but I don't think either is right for me. I spent a week with RightNote and really like it so far. I am thinking about buying it.
I came across a note here on this forum back in Nov 2022 that the software was not making money for the developer and he was putting it in maintenance mode. I'm not sure that I should commit my "second brain" to software that will never be updated. I also looked at MyInfo, it seems pretty similar to RightBrain. Better in some areas, weaker in others and the developer is still working on it.
I came across outlinersoftware.com doing a search for reviews and users of the software. Seems like some users of both applications are here and might have some thoughts on which one to choose. Or maybe suggestions for other programs to look at.
