I have recently been reading about SiYuan and the Alpha version looks promising. Will try it out soon.

English-language forum: https://liuyun.io/
“SiYuan is a privacy-first personal knowledge
management system that supports complete
offline use, as well as end-to-end encrypted
data sync. Fuse blocks, outlines, and
bidirectional links to refactor your thinking.”
Platforms: Windows, Linux, macOS, Android, iOS, Web (Self-hosted), Docker
Block-based. They recently rolled out their database model which allows giving any single block propeties… and simultanous membership in multiple databases. SiYuan uses a JSON file for each page, but the Markdown import/export is reported to be very good.
There’s a full-featured free tier, a lifetime Pro unlock (early bird) for $48 that includes search and S3/WebDAV access
“After the end of the S3/WebDAV public beta phase, a one-time payment is required, and the price is not yet determined. Subscribers do not need to pay for S3/WebDAV functionality separately.”
They are also offering limited number of lifetime “subscription” tier sales for $148 that includes 8Gb cloud storage (no size limit on an individual file, up to the 8Gb limit) and sync.

For those using cloud storage they are currently using qiniu.com to host cloud data at present, with all data end-to-end encrypted, and they plan to add a North American data center for American customers.
